Every one wants a nice, healthy looking lawn. Many may not know the key to a great lawn is the quality of your mower blades. A sharp blade will cut the grass cleanly and evenly. Also, it benefits the grass to recover faster, and ultimately helping it stay green. A dull blade will rip apart the grass blades, weakening the grass. This can lead to grass disease and turning brown.
A good indicator to know if your mower blade needs maintenance is the quality of the freshly cut lawn. If its looking choppy and uneven, that may be a sign that its time to replace or sharpen the blade. Checking your mower blades every few weeks, looking for dents, and chips in the blade. If you're mowing through branches or have hit any rocks, check the blade. A good rule of thumb when to sharpen a blade is every 20-25 hours of blade use.
Have a schedule of when to sharpen your blades, the beginning of the season, mid-season, and when winter hits. Others may sharpen more frequently due to the type of grass they are mowing, the amount they are mowing, or the size of the yard they are mowing.
The better the blade, the better the grass. Happy grass, happy life.
